Some help please?
Hi
I'm currently running a Speads RS08 with 1300 Hayabusa just for Track Days. My first outing was a disaster. I demolished the complete top end, I assume from downshifting at too high revs. Well at least that is what I was told. My motor was a Powertune motor so I was a bit upset. However I bought another stock 2006 motor having been told it was probably as quick as a 1999 Powertune. It seems OK to me but I've just purchased a Powertune ported cylinder head with APE valves and adjustable cams that I want to fit on the stock bottom end. Can anyone see any problem with this? Will it bolt straight on without further mods? Also thinking about a slipper clutch as I assume this will help with the downshifting also. Any views on this would be appreciated. Many thanks |

Judging from the lack of response I don't think there are too many Karters around here. There is a guy who posts in the Historic racing thread who's son does some karting...I'll see if he has any contacts.

So, what actually is it? A kart, a bike engined race car or.....
There is a specific kart forum, if it fits in there, or maybe Racing technology, or even track day forum may get more response. I guess like me, not a lot of people on National & Club Racing know what you are talking about! As for slipper clutches, my understanding is that they are usually fitted to protect the drive train wheel side of the clutch, not engine side. If you are over-revving on down shifts, that's surely down to driver to adjust technique..... Edit- just googled 'Speads RS08' so at least know what it is, now! I see you've asked the question in 'bike engined race cars as well'. |

It's not a kart, it's a very attractive Radical-esque 2 seater. FWIW you don't regularly run Hayabusa engines in karts Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk |

There are a number of Speads single seaters being used successfully in the Monoposto Racing Club. I think the single seater and the sports cars share quite a lot of things underneath the bodywork, so my recommendation would be to contact the Mono club and post the question on their forum.

You see them on FB or YT sometimes, giving a little demo run. But long term they don't work.
