Important EU Consultation Re Insurances
We've discussed this before but I received the following from Motor Racing Legends. Anyone with an interest in Motorsport in the UK and EU may be wise to submit their thoughts. The message is self explanatory.

Hmm. Money talks. Do insurers not offer this type of product? If no, is there a reason why not?

I suspect they can't because the damages are "at large" which effectivley means you can't put a price on them.
That said, now that Pastor Maldonado is out of the picture, they may feel more comfortable. |

nobody really knows, chilli. it depends how much of eu law will get duplicated in uk law for continuity and when they decide the cutoff will be - presumably the date we're going to officially leave which is june 2019 iirc?
one of his relatives has been causing a modest amount of chaos in brdc british f3 this year, they're not completely at ease |

However, things rarely get settled quickly in the EU, and as has been suggested in another thread on this subject, there are many vested interests throughout Europe who will not want to see this come into being. I would suggest that companies such as Mercedes, VAG, Ferrari and so on will be putting huge pressure on their respective governments to make sure that it doesn't affect their projects. Can you imagine the cost to private individuals who would need to find an insurance policy with unlimited liability payments so that they can continue to cut their grass with a mower? Or a farmer with a small holding that just about keeps the family financially afloat who will be able to afford such a policy? |
