hi all newbie here just asking when is the best time to volunteer for circuits in the closed season or open good luck to all

Generally speaking volunteering is for a Club rather than a circuit (e.g. BRSCC, BARC, MSVR, etc. rather than Brands Hatch, Croft, etc.)
Volunteer at any time of year but most marshals volunteer in the early part of the year as the various Clubs publish their schedules.
As you say that you are new, are you looking to marshal at meetings this year (there are still some to go) if so contact the Club organising the meeting - you can find the chief marshal or marshal contact on most Club websites.
Which circuit would be your "local" - someone will be able to add any additional details.

If you want to Marshal mainly @ Silverstone you can volunteer for all events there apart from the G.P. via Penny Norris. Their Marshals Club is also highly recommended, if you want to know more go to:

You can't volunteer during the close season as fixtures will not be made public until some time in the new year, for most circuits towards the end of January or early February.

You should be looking at doing a training day at a circuit convenient to you , which will be held early next year. There are still a few race meetings left this year - it may be worth trying to do one as training will make more sense if you've already done a day or two.

That'll be the Saturday of the MSVR meeting.

I'll be there so will try to catch you at sign-on in the morning. I'll either be helping with it or if not then I'll be around.
