If you look at the distance they put on their teammates Max had a larger gap than Hamilton

I generally find it hard to justify giving DOTR to anyone but the winner. After all, winning is the purpose of it all. When the winner also gets himself pole and and then builds a 20 second lead, it really is no contest.
