Perfectly executed team orders that were clear and concise. Mercedes.
(Sorry Force India) |

Getting a 1-2 makes it really hard not to vote for Mercedes. But that shambles in the pitstop was like the Ferrari-of-old. So instead I gave it to Ferrari. They had the pace, and were generally looking pretty good, but their No 1 driver dropped it.

Force India, for not having a clear 1-2 driver and letting their guys race

Merc.
negative scores for those teams that way overreacted to the rain. did i see Gasly/STR on full wets? i dont think anyone else tried to copy/took the same chance as to what LH/Merc did. surprised by that. |

There were teams that got it wrong for both (Renault, Haas, Williams). The fact that even Red Bull got it wrong for their only remaining car seems to indicate it was not 'just a silly mistake' |

i could be wrong but only Merc/LH took the gamble with the ultra softs and immediately that move looked inspired. everyone else who pitted went inters (and one wet) so that was the conservative choice imo. granted LH had gone much further with his opening set so had more options so its all in hindsight of course. |

Most of those who went inters or wets either could risk it without losing a position (Max) or had nothing to lose as they were out of the points anyway (or very few). They might have thought that it was a small chance it would rain enough to justify it, but weighed that against the potential huge gain.
In the end inters and, especially wets, were the wrong choice, but no real loss. Effectively they bet a pound with the potential to win a million as they thought the odds where better than that. |

i guess what i was getting at was why no one else other than LH chose to take the chance in the other direction? to me that seemed (even at the time i say) to have been the bigger gamble with the bigger potential payoff.
i mean if you have nothing to lose then why not? |

Force India for managing a double points finish in their difficult situation.
Could not give it to Mercedes as they botched pit stops for both their cars. Not ready for Bottas and the Yes No Yes No fiaasco with Lewis. Last edited by E.B; 25 Jul 2018 at 04:24. |
