I think the best way to go is for a documentary. They tend to follow the facts and show more of what I'm interested in. Documentaries are also a good way to learn things about the sport that I did not previously know. A movie about racing will always be less than the real thing and not a true representation. It's too easy to notice the shortcomings and inaccuracies, which detracts from the film experience. Better yet, why not go and see a race in person??

For me, by far and away the best is 'C'était un rendez-vous' which is a 1976 French short film directed by Claude Lelouch. You can easily find it on the internet & it's available as a DVD. If the hairs on the back of your neck don't go up you must be dead
