That's a terrible mistake to say the least. As much as autosport is about the only magazine to provide people with detailed motorsport news, that is not the sort of clanger that should be happening, yes its hard for a mag to be 100% right all the time, but it must be upsetting for the family.

Sometimes you do seem to get some very glaring mistakes from Autosport, I know they're not infallible, but such a mistake is rather poor. I'm somewhat surprised to find that it's still on the site, I would have imagined it might have been pointed out to them and altered.

Actually he was killed in 1992, at thruxton following a collision with his teamate, Elton Julian.
His parents presented a trophy at the Marlboro Masters for the fastest lap, in his memory for 10 years ending in 2001. |

Has anyone actually bothered to email Autosport to let them know. It could well be a very honest mistake.

Teletext make this sort of mistake all the time, no need to go over the top. I'm sure its just a typo, someone read the wrong name or something.

I have emailed Autosport to point it out - hopefully they will amend.

i don't think there was any intent, if they have the same surname, then there could be obvious typing errors, although it should have been ammended by now.

Easy mistake to have made, I guess. But has anyone else noticed the number of small errors in the magazine these days. Little things like getting years wrong! It seems to be every week if you read closely.

That Thruxton race was a BTCC race too. I was there, it was my first touring car meeting. I've still got the program somewhere.
