All packed up and ready for the MGCC at Donington tomorrow.
Slightly wary but looking forward to this weekend's "new normal". |

At a Kart meeting @ Rissington this weekend we had to wear a face mask at all times in the Paddock, made drinking coffee & eating burgers difficult

Just had an interesting document from the MUK to do with Marshalling @ circuits:
POSTS • Posts should have no more than the number necessary to carry out the usual function of that location and in order to maintain safety coverage in accordance with the track licence • The post must be able to facilitate allocated marshals in line with current government guidance in respect of social distancing, and with mitigation as necessary • Post allocation should be issued remotely prior to event to avoid unnecessary delays and gatherings So no more 1 Flag & 1 Observer only on a post. You can also go to and deal with an incident as before: In the event of an incident requiring intervention or where there is no OK sign (thumbs up) from the driver, marshals equipped with appropriate PPE should adopt the usual procedures to deal with the incident until additional support arrives. At which time the marshals' direct involvement may not be required, and they may only be needed to control the site. Last edited by The Fat Clerk; 15 Jul 2020 at 18:10. |

This weekend I'm going to be a Post Chief @ the Grand Prix for the first time since 2014, bizarrely I'm on the same post as I was then - 13 Luffield In.
Hopefully I can remember what to do. |

New protocols issued yesterday to take effect on Monday at the same time as the new government "Rule of 6" - according to the MSUK email "organised sport can continue to operate, when there is clear evidence of a thorough plan and consistent execution."
As a result: there is now the requirement for all participants to wear a face mask in all areas of the venue at all times the removal of individual personal exemptions from wearing a face mask; these persons will no longer be allowed to attend Motorsport UK events enhanced powers for COVID-19 Officers, Clerks of the Course and Stewards to intervene and penalise any transgressions reducing the maximum number of marshals per post to 6. 6 marshals per post might not be a major change - it's up from the 2 at the first events of "Restart" and more than some circuits managed historically! Face coverings is more controversial but if it's necessary to keep the sport on the road, so be it! |
