Well done Dixon, another title. Definitely one of the best, if not the best Indycar driver of the 21st century

Who knows how he is celebrating it? Great driver, who knows how much more he can achieve?

With all the chaos i was glad to see the 2 championship contenders weren't directly involved and were able to have a race on track. Would have left a bad taste in my mouth if one of them were taken out on a restart.
I always like to see what the media coverage of indycar is outside racing websites. Our local paper had a half page story with large picture of Dixon on track. Good recap of the race in the story as well. |

I believe the races are shown in the Netherlands on Ziggo (UPC / Liberty cable network) In Belgium some of them are shown on a dedicated sports channel, but you can only get that if you change ISP providers to the one provider who owns that channel, and then you have to take the most expensive suspscription, which means: all the soccer/football channels. The only way to see the race is to find an illegal stream. -- Apart from that, there is no mention in the newspapers. At the time, there was a 10-line article saying Sato won the Indy 500. That's maybe because People remember Sato here. Probably if Newgarden would have won, it would not have been mentioned at all. Mind you, there is hardly any newpaper coverage about the Spa 24 hours race either. In 'De Zondag' (a free newspaper you can pick up in shops at Sunday), there were 5 pages about the Soccer matches of this weekend, 2 about Vuelta and Giro and 75 words about Hamilton taking pole in Portimao. Nothing about the Spa 24 hours, even though that race was ungoing. -- Even on 'Sporza', the sports website of our national broadcaster, there is nothing about the Spa 24hours. If it is not F1 or Rally it does not exist. (Formula E seems to exist since Vandoorne races there) |

Apart from Dixon winning his 6th Driver's Championship, I think that race will be remembered for all the Full Course Yellows that came out, 6 and for a total of 26 laps. It was also quite an attritional race, with 10 drivers out of a field of 24 failing to cross the finish line. Otherwise, there were some solid drives from those who managed to avoid the chaos, including RH-R and Ericsson and there was a particularly impressive drive from Bourdais, who finished fourth for Foyt. Honda won manufacturer’s crown and it was their first three-peat in the 27-year history of Honda Performance Development. Chevy have some work to do in the off-season. |

I generally like St Pete but that was a hard watch for a while. Maybe the heat and a "green" track had an impact. IDK. Mistakes from notable drivers. Scotty Mac seemed to make one too but was giddy about the experience. Will be fun to see how he gets on next year.
Dominate from Josef and good on Dixie. |

Spanish website Marca has a full story and it appears in the motorsport section.
Sport has a "Palou 16th" story. As doesn't have it. The third story in the motorsport section is a pileup in some random Russian rally. |

That was one of the worst results for Andretti Autosport, a far cry from their 1-2-3 in the second race at Mid-Ohio. Alexander Rossi, Colton Herta and James Hinchcliffe qualified second, third and fourth.
Rossi who had led for 61 laps, lost the rear end of the car and went into the wall nose first at Turn 3 on Lap 69. Prior to the Lap 80 restart, Hinchliffe spun under caution at the hairpin and as he rejoined the track he collected semi-teammate Jack Harvey. Just after Lap 84 restart, Colton Herta outbraked himself into Turn 4, which dropped him back to 13th place. Marco Andretti had his chances of earning the final $1 million Leaders Circle contract for 2021 ruined, when his right-rear tyre was punctured, sending him into the tire barrier, as Sato lunging up on the inside. |

There is very little MSM UK coverage of Indycar, even the Indy 500 now. Although other than F1 there isn’t a lot of coverage of motorsports in the UK tbh. F1 still gets quite a lot of MSM coverage. |
