Craig,
I normally come straight into the forums and never see the front page of this site. Just for a change I came in via the front of the site and it was nice to see that first time visitors are greeted by a picture of Allan McNish. If fan power meant anything he would be in F1 by now.

He is a Scottish driver who went through all the junior formulae one year ahead of Coulthard. He was Hakkinen's team mate in FVL in 1988. Hakkinen won the Euro championship and McNish was 2nd/3rd and the positions were reversed in the British championship. He lost the F3 championship by a fraction and stepped up to F3000 at a very young age and finished 2nd to his team mate in that championship despite having an accident in the first race where his car left the track and landed in a spectator underpass and killed a marshall. He tested extensively for McLaren and Benetton and won the LeMans 24 hours last year. In the sportscar championship last year he was the only Porsche driver who could live with the Mercedes. He was supposed to be in a learning year but 2 races in he had become a clear number one. The guy has class written all over him and it is beyond me why he is not in F1.

Steven, thanks. If I am going to have him on a t-shirt, someone's bound to ask me, "Is that ... " and I'd rather say something more informed than "Geez, I dunno..." He sounds a very good guy. I hope he keeps on doing well. Sounds as if he's earned a break or so.

P.S. Maybe Redneck would like to see McNish in a string bikini?
