Crmalcolm has hit the nail on the head there - while the champs might have been won by RWD cars, they have had probably the best drivers of those seasons in them. Sutton is showing it isn't just down to the drivetrain in his switch to a Ford Focus - he had 3 podium visits this weekend and is 2nd in the championship yet he still isn't happy with the car!

Also - the Infiniti that Sutton used to such good effect last year is now nowhere. When people talk about the RWD advantage a lot of that is the "WSR have built a good car and the BMW drivers are all decent" advantage.

Absolutely gutted for JP after race 3.
Nice drives by Cookie. Hill couldn't quite get there. I'm left wondering if Ash could end up winning the championship this year with hardly any wins - he's becoming the new Turkington, Mr. Consistency. |

What are the odds Cookie can repeat his double win on the next visit to Thruxton?

Yup - I think it also shows the engineer and No1 mechanic are key factors in results. No wonder Ash takes his team with him

I honestly think he should have a crack down under at some point, his driving style would really suit Supercars. |

Just like Ingram when he drove the Toymotor, and why he was always there or thereabouts. Butcher just doesn't have the same finesse that Ingram had in it, which is why he doesn't feature on the podium in the same car. |

Shame nothing came out of it. Would be amazing to see Ash in Supercars. However, I can't recall a single non-Oz or NZ driver succeeding in Supercars.

Well... there was the Canadian driver Allan Moffat who won the championship 4 times *and* Bathurst 4 times.
And then some blokes called Muller, Bourdais, Premat, Lyons and Salo have had victories (as co-drivers, admittedly). |

The likes of Muller or Bourdais were co-drivers which is a bit of a different thing. Last edited by Matt K; 1 Jun 2022 at 21:51. |
