Looking back at Austria

In a close championship battle, Beau2 has dropped from first to third and BTCC frog has taken over the lead (after finishing 2nd this round), becoming the fourth person to lead the championship this year.

Congratulations to wolfhound on a first win this season. He becomes the seventh different winner in eleven rounds.

The addition of sprint points offers the opportunity to get a big haul. Despite the big points scores, there was a run of one-point differences from the 7th to the 11th-place finisher in this round.

There were 12 entries and a third of those had Leclerc as the winner of the Grand Prix. Everybody else predicted Verstappen.

Aside from the obvious anomalies of Sainz and Pérez, the most commonly predicted top 10 finishers who didn't actually finish there were Gasly and Vettel (5 predictions apiece).

Despite his finishing in the top ten at Silverstone, only wolfhound and BTCC frog predicted Magnussen to come home in the top ten, and both of them in his rightful 8th place.

Nobody guessed Hamilton would end up on the podium for a second time in a row.

Everyone but steve_r correctly had Verstappen down as winning the sprint.

Regarding Sprint 'results', here are everybody's points just from that aspect:

Everybody guessed exactly 6 or 7 of the sprint finishers (in any order).

The most incorrect sprint top 8 finisher was Alonso (predicted by 11 out of 12 people).

The most missed one was Magnussen, guessed by just two.

Verstappen's fastest lap was predicted by a third.

steve_r was the only one to put McLaren for fastest pit stop.

Everybody got that the Grand Prix would be dry.

Nobody predicted Schumacher to win the Driver of the Day poll, nor Leclerc to win the Driver of the Grand Prix poll on TenTenths.

Three quarters got that the event would score a 7.

Only chunterer got the top three in qualifying.

It was after Austria that I briefly took the championship lead last year as well, before losing it again soon after in the Spa non-race.
