In 2020, as part of the revised calendar due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a second event was hosted at the IMS Grand Prix Road Coarse, the Harvest Grand Prix, from October 1-3. It was also the fifth double-header of the 2020 season. This weekend will be the third year in a row, that this second event at the IMS Grand Prix Road Coarse has taken place and like last year it will be a single race, consisting of 85 laps. Last year's 's race had an entry list of 28 drivers, the second largest field to compete outside of the Indy 500. The largest field was the abandoned Round 17 of the 2011 IZOD IndyCar Series at Las Vegas, with 34 cars. Some trivia: Driver with the most wins: Will Power, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2020, 2021. Congrats to Alexander Rossi on a much needed win, his first since Road America in 2019. Christian Lungard rounds off a good weekend with second place, having qualified 6th. All three Penske's finished in the top 6, so The Captain should be pleased. Will Power's 3rd place puts him top of the driver's standings, on 431 points, just 9 ahead of Marcus Ericcsson who finished 11th. Completely missed the race but that couldn't be helped, so it will be highlights. |

I was watching on delay as usual, but thought it to be a pretty entertaining race. Only a couple yellows but the timing of those greatly affected some of the team's strategies. I was gutted for Pato getting spun on the opening lap and all of the other championship contenders finishing in front of him. But that's racing sometimes. Really great result for Rahal and Lundgard. Penske comes in to put a strangle on the championship with good results for the big 3.

I missed the first third, the rest was rather linear.

Decent race, caught it after the skies opened here and ended working outside. Definitely a gap between Rossi/Herta and the field, Lundgaard made the most of getting pit work perfect all race and his ability to run the road course. Do wonder how much Penske held them behind Power for the points lead, if they got around Power could Joseph or Scott have caught up?
Herta appears to be very very hard on his tools. He has had more than his share of failures or banging off the walls. Hadn't seen anything about what happened but have to agree with TV guys that hitting that curb broke something. |

Hey, NASCAR is important man. It's important the far slower cars who can't stay on track get top billing. Course I'm sure the ratings will show a huge gap to support not being on Sunday.
I'll be curious on Tuesday what the Indy vs Busch race numbers are, direct lead in on same network |

Well two updates from the weekend
Rossi gets docked 20 points, Andretti docked 20 and 25k fine. Rossi drinks system used as ballast to meet minimum weight. Indy officials claim car was never underweight but empty drinks system would have been under. https://racer.com/2022/08/03/rossi-a...s-road-course/ TV ratings released and Indy did better on main show than NBC sports but doesn't gain much from being ahead of Busch kids. Total audience was 1.07million compared to 1.548 million for stock cars, 3.373 million for Cup on Sunday. Actually best rating for them on NBC since Daytona regular season finale last year. |

Well that’s pretty clear cut with the way that rule is written. Careless.
