HSCC Croft 3&4 September
Looking forward to two days at Croft, excellent grids apart from small Classic Clubmans. 400 entry classic car show on Sunday too. Only down side may be damp weather. Entry list link:

Yes, quite a decent entry. Hoping to get there on the Sunday at least. Shame about the forecast after all the dry weather we’ve had this summer but at least the event is back at Croft.

There both days - I am local - and pleased /relived to see a pretty decent entry list. A bit of rain will spice things up and God knows we need it

Simply outstanding yesterday , despite the rain. Highlights included the gorgeous sight and sound of a good field of F2 and F Atlantics , very close racing in FF2000 and a quite extraordinary victory for a superbly driven Vauxhall Carlton (V6 , not Lotus ) against Elans , TVRs etc

A very enjoyable day at Croft today (Sunday), good to see the HSCC back at our local circuit. The off-track ‘nostalgia’ attractions seemed to be dialled down from previous years but still plenty of classics on the in-field.
Bonus was Marcus Pye on commentary. |

I didn't take many photos yesterday and only of a few races but here's a couple of sample sets:

Fully agree with comments from Coppice and Gary, a great event which I thoroughly enjoyed. The memory of the Vauxhall Carlton on Saturday will remain for a long time - if it seemed astonishing to me, the Elan racer of 30+ years standing next to me was almost rendered speechless.
Additional benefit of the event was meeting Forum contributors Brian A and Heightswitch. Photos from Saturday attached. |

It was good meeting you for a natter.. Mixed bag weekend for me. Sat Qually was dry and I think I ended up 9th on the grid. Just couldn't find a clear bit of track. We entered Holding area in the dry for the first HRS race but the heavens opened and the race was very wet and shall we say it was interesting aquaplaning the car at north of a ton up to Tower bend I had a good race and at one point put in the 3rd fastest lap time and I think I had the highest sector speeds. Good dice with a lovely Porsche and also Keith in his Big real deal 390gt Mustang. 2nd Race on Sunday was dry and I did 3 cars of the line but I was outclassed behind the wheel due to lack of seat time. so started 7th and briefly up to 4th and then some out of position cars got me back and 7th was best I could manage. I was supposed to be a wild card entry for 70's Roadsports at back of grid but after delays in the holding area car refused to start I think due to a fried coil and despite bumping / pushing etc I had to watch all the cars go bye.. I was livid !! Car started first time off the trailer at home.. **** happens as they say in racing.. Great event and I think croft dipped its toe back in the water after covid.. hopefully it will be bigger again next year :-) Couple of vids. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GRMnk7t-O8w https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O7wmIW8-XWA neil. |
