I thought so too, in fact I was pretty sure of it but Wikipedia bears it out. There are one or two I'd quite like too.

It's OK, I've realised my mistake. Dinky Toys (made by Meccano) were the ones I was thinking about, they started in 1934.
I was always a Corgi toy fan as a youngster... (That's my excuse!)
