GT Open 2023
Another season, similar calendar, grid growing nicely, expecting 26+.
Nice to see the market has shunned the silly PRO class this year, after 2-4 cars only running in it for the last few years GT Open 2023 - 21 Cars PRO Class - 0 Cars PRO-AM Class - 13 Cars AF Corse - Ferrari 488/296 (TBC) GT3 - Alessandro Cozzi / Giorgio Sernagiotto AF Corse - Ferrari 488/296 (TBC) GT3 - Andrea Montermini / Gino Fogiorne AF Corse - Ferrari 488/296 (TBC) GT3 - Laurent de Meeuws / Jamie Stanley GetSpeed Performance - Mercedes AMG GT3 - Steve Jans / Axel Blom Greystone GT - Mclaren 720S GT3 - Andrew Gilbert / Fran Rueda Kessel Racing - Ferrari 488 GT3 - TBC / TBC Olimp Racing - TBC Ferrari Audi or Mercedes GT3 - Marcin Jedlinski / Karol Basz Optimum Motorsport - McLaren 720S GT3 - Charlie Fagg / Sam de Haan Optimum Motorsport - McLaren 720S GT3 - TBC / TBC Racing One - Ferrari 296 GT3 - TBC / TBC Team GT - Mercedes AMG GT3 - Alain Valente / Florian Scholze Team Motorpark - Mercedes AMG GT3 - TBC / TBC Team Motorpark - Mercedes AMG GT3 - TBC / TBC AM Class - 8 Cars AF Corse - Ferrari 488/296 (TBC) GT3 - John-Claude Saada / Conrad Grundewald AF Corse - Ferrari 488/296 (TBC) GT3 - Marco Pulcini / Eddie Cheever Baron Motorsport - Ferrari 488 GT3 - TBC / TBC GetSpeed Performance - Mercedes AMG GT3 - Kiki Sak Nana / Adam Osieka Kessel Racing - Ferrari 488 GT3 - TBC / TBC Olimp Racing - TBC Ferrari Audi or Mercedes GT3 - Stanis?aw Jadlinski / Krystian Korzeniowski Racing One - Ferrari 488 GT3 - TBC / TBC Team GT - Mercedes AMG GT3 - TBC / TBC |

Even if no one cares about this racing series, this is a good championship for slow drivers like the championship promoter.

Well that's Oregon winning the Championship for a second year.
What is the point of a Pro Class, similar to GTWC America. |

Seems no point in having the Pro class if they aren't going to get the numbers. Why are they even bothering?

Didnt realise that the season starts this weekend in Portimao. Grid is looking really good.33 cars for the first round, 10 PRO entries. A pleasant surprise.
They also managed to get 17 cars for the GT CUP Open category. Again, not bad given some of the entries previously. https://www.gtopen.net/uploads/doc/2...ntry%201_1.pdf Last edited by v8supes; 28 Apr 2023 at 18:27. |

No there isn't. I imagine its a mix of the Am's preferring the older models and there not being any 296 or 992 GT3s available.
The further we go with GT3 the less perhaps difference and performance gap there is between models and evolutions. |

It's getting harder to find new cars that are easily affordable. I think they should stick with GT3 and hope enough entries keep the series going

What a load of rubbish! "Keep the series going"...yet they've got over 30 cars and in general more and more people with the money are going down the GT3 route now...

Probably was a good idea to combine the categories. Got plenty of variety as you say and meant there was action up and down the field.
