LMP2 Le Mans 2023
LMP2 comparison.
Average Lap time
Again we see a team with disappointing qualifying looking good in this measure. Wow. It is close. The lap time ranking chart is interesting. Look at the laps in the Top 10 - these are basically the qualifying laps. They must have been sandbagging at other times This really does show what naturally happens. It is less dramatic for United because they didn't run in hyperpole so did less of this pushing. Last edited by Adam43; 9 Jun 2023 at 21:20. Reason: Added Pro/Am column |

I have used this as an excuse to start an LMP2 thread.
So who is going to be, there are a lot of strong teams. Jota, Prema, United, WRT, or someone else? |

Too many to play roll a dice or flip a coin… Wanted to go for Prema but the United team looks more consistent and stronger. Another important factor is how good team players are the drivers of each team. Several young roosters in the hen house is aint good… After hours of race the car is semi toasted and the drivers still hungry! I go for Cool Racing just for the name!
Thanks for this, Adam. |

So many good teams and drivers in the class, it is hard to pick. Plus thinking back to how the race started last year with a couple of the favorites going out on the first lap, you just don't know how it will play out over 24 hours (or 24 seconds).

I think this one is to hard to pick. There are two many good team/drivers I guess it will come down to who has the cleanest run.

It certainly is, as shown by the variation in votes so far.

Interpol leads. No one voted for them.
Then United, WRT AF Corse, ... They are all on similar strategy as they all came in when it started raining recently. |

Average Lap time
WRT were the strongest here - I think we saw that, but they couldn't quite get it done at the end. United certainly looked stronger than their qualifying suggested. No surprise there, the practice data showed that too. Prema and JOTA surprisingly low? |

On the race result - well done nobody! We're all useless.
No one even said WRT who came 2nd (and 5th). Or Duqueine who were 3rd. Did someone say Alpine who came 4th? No. IDEC in 6th? No. Vector 7th? No. OK, who was 8th? United! Three of us said that and it was the most common answer. Sort of well done to Adam43, JT240Z, kartman24. Pathetic. You should all be ashamed of yourselves. |

The battle to win Le Mans!
To really tell the battle for the win other cars could be included, but I've kept it simple and just those that finished on the podium. SC and FCY are shown. Slow zone laps are not. A spike up the car pitted before the leader, a spike down and it was after. There was a FCY on lap 236 (for the race leader), this doesn't appear on this chart because it wasn't out when the winner of LMP2 crossed the line. A reminder that #34 was in the lead for a long time in this race. They really took it the "bigger" teams. |

So UA did have the speed, but were let down by incidents (mostly of their own making). That might be a small, but significant, part of their lack of LMH/LMDH partnership...

However it was still a lot. It led 204 laps in the race. Including the last 112. It’s firstled was lap 72. From 120 it swapped the lead with 30 and 41. Presumably mainly due to pit stops. |

He has been using his left foot till the end, not easy to jump on the brakes given the injuries. Yes, great win, just hope nothing non-compliant will be found on the car.
