[Official] Hungarian Grand Prix - Predictions Contest 2023 - Round 12 of 23 - Results

Congratulations to smellysocks on taking his first win in the 2023 season. The former triple world champion has missed one round so far, so his championship position of 9th doesn't reflect how things may shake out by the end of the year.

He becomes the ninth different winner in eleven rounds (although this is officially Round 12, Imola was, of course, cancelled). That shows what a competitive season it is, and this round was no exception, with high scores on the whole, and yet big gaps between some of the higher ones.

Changes of note include Notso Swift moving up into 5th in the championship race, ahead of TrapezeArtist, while steve_r draws level with rika for 7th.


What happened in Hungary

There were 13 entries.

All the following percentages are rounded up or down.

11/13 predicted Verstappen as the winner (85%).

Apart from him, Norris, Pérez, Leclerc, Sainz and Stroll were all the most correctly predicted drivers in their position, by 3/13, or 23%.

Ocon was the most commonly-predicted non-top 10 finisher (by 6/13 or 46%).

Stroll went from being the most commonly-predicted non top 10 finisher in the last round to the least commonly-predicted actual top 10 finisher in this one, by 3/13, or 23%.

2 people (15%), smellysocks and Notso Swift got the most top 10 finishers (all ten).

TCT got the fewest, with just 6.

smellysocks got the most correct finishing positions in his top 10 with 6/10.

TrapezeArtist got the fewest (no-one).

No-one got Hamilton on pole.

The only other correct qualifying predictions were those for Norris in 3rd (4).

11/13, or 85%, got that Red Bull would achieve fastest lap.

9/13, or 70%, got Red Bull's fastest pit stop.

100% got that the weather would be dry.

1/13, or 8%, put Pérez for Driver of the Day.

6/13, or 46%, surmised that Norris would get Driver of the Grand Prix.

6/13, or 46%, got McLaren's Team of the Grand Prix too.

3/13, or 23%, got the Rate the Grand Prix score of 5/10.

6/13, or 46% predicted 18-19 finishers. Notso Swift - I'm afraid I couldn't accept your prediction of 16-18. I would ask everyone to check the ranges in the finishers so you don't make a mistake.

In a big swing since the last round, 12/13 (92%) predicted the mode of the pit stops would be 2.
