1973 What Were They Smoking?
1973 ATTC at Waneroo we have Elemer Vajada in a 1.3 litre Subaru Leone, mixing it with Chargers, XU-1'S and GTHO Phase III's.
Then over at Oran Park, Moffat in a sports sedan race in his mighty Mustang collides with Noel Delforce V8Morris Marina. Thanks Australian Muscle car magazine, for those little gems. |

You always wonder how those cars showed up, and what happened to them afterwards. They were new cars, in the case of the Subaru anyway, and given their natural oddity, would have been difficult to exit perhaps.
Wonder if there is a Subaru Leone 1.3 in full race trim sitting in a Perth garage under a dust sheet? |

Up to the 1990s there were classes normally up to 1.5/1.6, 1 .5 to 2/2.6 and over
Thus we had capris escorts alfas geminis rollas and sillycars. and the occassional left field one. Thy werent really up against the firebreathers, they were in their own division of th same race |
