In theory, there are a number of rounds nominated by V8Supercar as able to field a wildcard. It might not stretch to a full season.
That said.. would a team like PremiAir be a little aggressive and make a change to their line up?

The $64,000 question is what is the underlying issue? While the natural assumption based on previous history is a falling out with the CEO, could it be something else? A disagreement on a contract extension or the ability to pursue drives in other categories, or being refused permission to talk to Triple 8 while his team mate was allowed to?

Based on precedent, it would be expected that Betty would say if he wants to go, then let him go, but I expect that she will dig her heels in this time.

No, a driver can only do one sprint round plus the enduros. I am sure Peter Adderton will be bleating soon enough though.

Until he is granted a release by Erebus as his primary employer, doubt he can race elsewhere.

People seem to be getting a bit ahead of themselves. SVG is a thee times series, three times Bathurst champion who has been heads and shoulders above the rest of the field. Waters and Kostecki are not in the same league.

I thought a driver (or team?) got maximum 3 possible wildcards, maybe plus (or including) enduros.

Im sure if Brodie is under contract he wont be able to drive elsewhere. Im equally sure Erebus would want to see Brodie in the garden rather than taking points from them in another team entry. One would imagine that Gardening leave would be a prerequisite from Erebus if the split is officially confirmed.

But im not a contract lawyer so happy to be corrected.

It seems to have been started at the beginning of the Tailem Bend weekend is all I have read, but no details as to what specifically sparked it.

Mr Childress may have some more races for Kostecki to take part in this year, bump in to SVG around the traps. I think Kostecki could go ok there. This maybe the year Waters steps up? he needs to, for some reason he thinks he is good enough to race in the states at the top level without real winning anything of any note. If he is not pushing for top honors by the end of this season...

None of Supercars business, it is a matter for team and driver to resolve. Will also probably mean with only two former champions, Courtney and Winterbottom, the fewest number of former champions on the grid probably since the 1960s.

Supercars has no interest in reporting on any disruption within the series. They seem to be the only Australian News outlet not to post a story on this.

All they are concerned about is who's livery is revealed next.

All drivers at Erebus have had some unrest over the times and this dates back to the early Merc days. Its a wonder why most of the drivers haven't seen out there contracts.
