Good circuit drivers don't always mean good oval/NASCAR drivers (Scott Pruett anyone?) Hideo apparantly won the Japanese touring car championship in 1992 (http://tentenths.com/forum/showthrea...998#post413998)
If someone like Keiichi Tsuchiya (THE Drift king) tried his luck at NASCAR I don't think he would make it, or even someone like Micheal Shumacher, or Mark Skaife, some people are suited to NSACAR/Oval racing, some are not. |

Kerry Earnhardt also went home. I wonder if "rain tires" for qualifying would work ??? |

He's done some other stuff too, I was just looking at the JGTC website a week or so ago, and came across him there, he's been GT300 champion in '97 and 2000 and has raced at LM, he's been racing a Team Porsche in JGTC GT300 this year, and is running 6th in points,
Here's a profile: http://www.jgtc.net/race/2002/02team...ver/024d1e.htm |

And he did a pretty good showing at Le Mans in either 2000 or 2001. Can't remember which year. What never made sense to me was why they started him off at short tracks. If i were a team owner and i knew what his history was then I would of stuck him in at Watkins Glen or Sears Point first.

I think Carter/Haas was trying to put something together for him before the Watkins Glen race and if they did, I am sure they would have entered him there. He definately has enough background to race road races in Winston Cup, its just that he has very little oval racing experience. Oval racing in a stock car is a entirely different type of beast altogether.

Hideo tried to "qualify" at the Rock, he went home !!!
Hideo was too slow to make the top 36 on speed. Carter must be out of provisionals !!! |
