Thanks very much for the info, now that ive started its history i might be able to find out the rest of its history as it seems to have been made roadworthy at some point, and used for some thing other than sprints. Trouble is ive shoehorned a duratec engine in, but i always intended to put it back to its original spec so nothing has been molested.

Hi Lee, can you say where the picture was taken with the space framed escort because behind it is Nick Whitings escort FVC, and i am pretty sure its me standing with yellow Tshirt reading something.

Is that the VDS CHevron truck behind, if so it'll be F5000, and so not Cadwell. Mallory or Silverstone maybe?

I agree that the bottom pic looks like Mallory Park. Top pick also looks as if it could be Mallory or Oulton. Too much grass for Silverstone - even in early 70s.

In the bottom pic the Escort looks like the Norman Abbott and later Chris Meek car but not in the colours of either. Where did the car go after Chris Meek?

Did the Meek car go to Rosemary Smith in Ireland? Sue Tucker-Peake raced a 1300 Escort in mid-70s, none too quick as I remember...I don't recall her in a Skoda though, Gordon

Susan Tucker-Peak was at the fore when I was racing, and in a few races alongside of the regular circus. Nice lady, but (obviously I suppose) didn't pop over to my trailer for any bacon sarnies and a coffee from an old cracked mug.

Hi dohnut, just found this. It's from Weighbridge corner, Longridge in 1975. It's from May or June I think.

Sorry to come here with a question, but it is Mk1 Escort Mexico related! I am a motorsport author, presently writing the authorised biography of Lella Lombardi. You may be aware that Lella contested various ShellSport Ford Escort Mexico races in 1974, which were organised by MCD’s John Webb. I'm trying to confirm which cars Lella drove at the various races she took part in. In each case I am looking to establish the registration of the car and the race number she carried. (I know the information for the 1973 races she contested.)

The Escort Mexico Celebrity races in 1974 in the UK were:

31 March 1974 - Brands Hatch, Ladies’ Race - #12 – RHK 912M
21 April 1974 - Brands Hatch, 1973 Winners' Race - # ? - ??
26 May 1974 - Brands Hatch, Ladies’ Race - # ? - ??
14 July 1974 - Mallory Park, Celebrity Race - # ? - ??
19 October 1974 - Brands Hatch, Celebrity Race - # 2 - ??

I reckon have no chance of identifying which VIN or reg number was carried by her Italian Championship-winning, Taranauto-prepared car in 1973!

Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated and I will of course prove a full acknowledgement in the book, which we aim to publish around the end of the year.

My email address is jon.saltinstall@hotmail.com, if that is more convenient for your reply.

Many thanks and kind regards.
