GHOGH should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Electric motorsport batteries appear to be quite tricky as the batteries are required to have an 80g crash rating.
The Formula E gen 3 with the WAE (Williams Advanced Engineering) 47kWh battery 9169MJ) race power of 402hp. Car weighs 760kg/ 1676lbs. Range is claimed as 59 miles/ 94km.
Have to see how the Swedish touring cars position on the battery/ range/ performance etc matrix.

Reminds me of a Top Gear episode years ago where they were slagging off (from memory) the Tesla Roadster as it could only do a handful of laps on their track.

What they didn't mention at the time but was brought up many times by others is that the ICE cars they test there generally return MPG figures in the single figures while being hooned around.

People don't think about the huge fuel tanks in proper race cars and the pitstops etc.

Some circuits in Scandinavia don't look populated even with a capacity crowd, its a result of the terrain.

The racing was far better than I expected.

A battery that can do 600km (e.g., 100kWh) weighs about 700kg -- not good for a race car. Even then the 700kg battery is only equal to about 26 kg/33 L of petrol used at 30% efficiency (strictly 700kg battery = 7kg petrol, but the ICE is very inefficient)...

Obviously the WLTP test cycle where the 600km number comes from does not involve 100% throttle throughout (FAR from it!).

So say a touring car used 2.5kg petrol per lap on a 25 lap race, for a total usage of 62.5kg. The equivalent battery would be 1680kg.

There already are. Your namesake Porsche Taycan Turbo S for example has a range of 555km. That's not a technical challenge.

It's feasible already within a 2500kg super saloon like the Taycan. Obviously batteries are very heavy, which is not good though.

Clearly not a licensed BMW product!

When is the official electric car formula coming where BMW M Motorsport GmbH will homologate their official customer car? Will it be STCC rules or eTCR rules or something else?

Any chance for these cars to compete in Nurburgring 24 hour, or is the technical limitation still too severe?
