Yeah it was pretty good apart from the middle bit when the Saints lost.

The energy data they give us is fun, but they round it to the nearest 5%. This shot is of a graphic where it is rounded to 1%.

Select GTPs have been impounded to perform in-depth homologation checks prior to Petit Le Mans.

- IMSA say this was planned and not in response to a concern about any given car(s)
- Two Porsche's and one car from each manufacturer were chosen
- IMSA chose post-Indy partly to ensure no clashes with teams' testing schedule
- The process will include full 3D scans and drivetrain teardown, amongst other checks

Good race control, serious post race checks (including the Lamborghini).

I would guess the facility also plays in to it, much more room for the technical equipment/storage/etc than at the Road Atlanta or other paddocks

1. Ford Multimatic has been out performing P&M Corvette lately have you noticed?
2. David Lan, Off the Esses, possibly even Hauk Tua...the IMSA safety car procedure problems are really getting a lot more noticed as of late. I have been saying this for a couple years, but I guess I am not an influencer.
3. Just awesome to see BMW win. The BMW hypercar is a good looking racing machine. Another on of that should have a road car variant.
4. Still trying to see if this Indy 6 hour race is something that should be on the calendar, not really convinced of it yet.

Does imsa use their own mechanics to tear cars apart? this feels like something the teams might want to supervise

flatlandsman has been held in scrutiny for further testing
As I said in that thread, this race was a bit overkill,. too many cars on a very small track, it worked eventually but the early laps were very attritional at times, sure the weather did not help, but I do feel a slightly smaller grid on such tracks would work better, it seems to me as usual that finishing a race like this with no penalties is almost as big as a result as a podium, it gets a little tiring.

If they have the choice.

At least it's the same for everyone. I assume the teams will give their cars a thorough go-over when they are returned.

Dunno about IMSA if they have something different but for any FIA sanctioned event teams must supply tools and mechanics who must stay available. It's in the rule book. As to the 3D check I think its handled by "scrutineers", very few being able to manage this kind of thing.
So re your question its more the instances supervising team mechanics.

You would have to run the scrutineers would ask for X part for their review and your guy get it for them off the car. Pass off issues with removal or damage to the experts. The pit lane guy who's camped a few times near us at Petit was not a guy you'd want to work on the car and he freely admitted it

I'm picturing all seven cars with IMSA officials ripping parts off and tossing them into a pile so that by the time they are done they can't figure out which parts go back on which cars.
