New to racing, with an MGB

Hi there,

This is my first post, and I was wondering if there is anyone out there who is / was / will be racing an MGB in historics. I have recently bought a 1964 FIA MGB and am starting to get my act together to go racing. Is there a good source of general information (regrading rules for various series, tips etc) that I could tap into? I have been a motorsport fan for over 50 years, but not fro this side of the steering wheel!

Ian, you might be better to repeat this thread in the Historic Racing Today section as there is at least one MGB racer who is a regular member on here. You'll probably get far better feedback there than on this section.

Most series (Masters, HSCC, CSCC, HRDC, Equipe, etc.) will have their technical and series regulations on their websites and you need to study these to see what is allowed. Although your car is to FIA spec some series allow modifications to the homologation papers such as electronic ignitions and different (road) tyres.
Do you have a set of the homologation papers? This will tell you the spec of your car and homologated improvements and can be obtained from MSUK. Sometimes there can be two or more sets of papers for a given car model so it may be wise to get sets of all.
Also a set of the FIA App J and App K modifications allowed. I think these can be downloaded from the FIA website.
Good luck.
