I would be dropping Kamui, how can you really lead the team and drive, there are plenty of other drivers more then good enough, I would love to see Barni in there, sadly he is a giant!! SO probably not in that car!!

As to tyre deg they don't insist too much about the difference between day and night. Imo it's a really important factor.

Makes me wonder if Jota can repeat the standout performance they had last year. In 2023 their 963 was flying, da Costa was catching the 7 rapidly and if not for multiple mistakes he made, that would've been a podium with a healthy buffer on the chasing Ferraris. Last privateer race for them, fingers crossed.

He qualified Qatar because he has experience at the track and the nature of the warmup process was similar to the way F1's tires work, which he has experience with as well. Kamui couldn't keep the tires in a good window for a qualifying lap while DeVries could. I think Ritomo Miyata is next up on Toyota's Japanese driver list but Kamui is still fastest on most occasions imo.

They already have Hirokawa, a few of their drivers are pushing it age wise, but still very good, a very good insight into how well Toyota keeps them up to speed, and they seem less interested in going two drivers.
For me Hartley has made a lot of mistakes this year, Buemi has his hothead moments but seems to be the quicker, de Vries has been superb, Conway, a steady peddler who always gets the rough stints!! Kamui also hothead moments and balancing the jobs he does. This is hyper critical, and would you want to lose all of it to start again, probably not, as really they have been the quickest team most of the time, with a lot of bad luck |

The big question is whether any of the drivers have been to Shropshire? It could give them an advantage:

Buemi spun at T1, nudged in the rear by the #82 Corvette.

P1 for the 7, no points for the 6 to grab the championship. Looking how bad Penske are, this is possible.

Have to feel Jota have made an error here swapping the Porsche for the Cadillac.
