For those who follow Project Binky there is a new episode on YouTube. It looks like there will be at least one more episode to come at some point.

Gordon, hope that you have escaped the worst of the Gota Fria which seems to have swept up and around the east coast. It appears that the worst is and has been to the south and the north of you in the Almeria area.

I believe Valencia has had the worst of it . Probably because it is surrounded by mountains where all of the rain runs down into the town . The media has , as usual , blown it up to be the worst " ever " , ignoring the fact that the Almeria had more rain in 1982 twice , 1983 , 1987 twice , 1991 , 1996 twice , 2002 . I believe there was also mention of the rivers , drains , run offs not being kept up . But that will all be ignored and climate change will be blamed . |

The problem is that the local authorities tend to ignore previous incidents such as the Gota Fria, which is the extremely heavy downpours that occur periodically in the autumn. The local village near where I lived is one such. There the council decided to build a whole "estate" on land that, for centuries, had been left as a natural watercourse , exactly because of those extreme downpours as that part of the village was at the base of a hill. Concerned villagers contacted the the relevant authorities in Madrid who came and instructed the local town hall that the couldn't build there, which was ignored. The next autumn, the area flooded and all buildings already constructed were ruined. Having just looked at the area on maps, most of it has been allowed to return to nature, except for the roads that were constructed nearly 15 years ago. |

Ok guys, although we had serious rain in our area we had no major problems that I know of, certain parts that flood even when it drizzles for five minutes were obviously under a little bit more but no structural damage or cars washed away. As we have been coming to Mojacar since 1972 we have seen it all, so when we actually bought our place we chose somewhere that can't really flood unless we get a 100ft wave ! We have seen the dried up ramblers in full flood over the years and TV programs like Place in the Sun don't mention thinks like that. It hasn't rained this year at all until 2 or 3 weeks ago and the ground was hard and it just ran down the mountains behind us and down the roads into the sea. At this moment we are in the UK where our house almost got flooded when we were in Spain, the lawns and garden are still covered in mud as well as the garden shed that had a foot of water and mud in it. We are booked to go to Spain in a couple of weeks for a very quick trip but at this moment I can't walk as my lower back has given up with a herniated disc that I have had for years.

Sorry for your back troubles, Gordon. My lady is in hospital again at present - as she says - this getting older lark has its drawbacks..........

Get well soon Gordon. Hopefully it's just a temporary problem and it's easily fixable

London to Brighton.
Morning all, Had a great day yesterday on my second run in a De Dion Bouton to Brighton. We knocked two hours off from last year and got to Brighton just after 2 PM. Happy days. Here are a few photos. I suspect they might be upside down.I also caught up with Derek from "Bangers and Cash". He really is a nice bloke. Hope these photos cheer poor old Gordon up a little. Thinking of you mate.

Cheers Iain, I am going in for an MRI scan tomorrow, in 2009 I had a very similar thing happen to me and it took about 6 weeks to recover. I remember my old man at 95 years of age helping me in and out of my car !

Sorry to hear that Gordon....Good luck and best wishes for a full and speedy recovery. Sounds distinctly uncomfortable. A bit of Spanish sun and a couple of cervezas frias will help sort things out im sure.
Cheers, Chris. |

CD's? Always in use? Ha, OK… If music is allowed during a scan I suggest slow rather than twist or rock which could give a blurred image. Gordon, ask for a picture with the flash and in color!

I've had three (so far) MRI scans and you get to choose the music they play for you. There is very little room to move so no worries about dancing.

Nothing like this here and we don't suggest or complain, being to happy to have an appointment. Some dental offices have a video screen built in ceiling but it will be hard to watch a race car movie!

I do remember some very pleasant music whilst having a scan earlier this year. Couldn't tell you what it was though. |

I've had numerous MRIs over the past few years, but I've never had music played to me. I can only assume that it depends on what part of the body they are scanning, because during each of those scans they had to instruct me over and over to take a deep breath and hold it, before being told to breathe normally.
This was because they were taking images of my chest and abdomen. |

Same for me, they just stopped the music whilst issuing instructions.

You're lucky, being able to choose. I've had a couple of scans and the only music playing was Radio 2. No way of turning it off either.
