If Perez has a career drawing to a close and Telmex are closing their donations to RBR in 2025 (as a result of RBR signing a a deal with AT&T) then it wouldn't surprise me to see an Indycar race emerge in 2026 which is the last year of the current F1 contract.
It would all make sense of the present situation.

Most Indycar team owners would be open to a widened presence in North America as opposed to a late season swing through Asia Pacific nations.

No chance he would join Indy or any team with a seat would sign him. He would be out of racing for a year before Indy

Before Pérez moved to Red Bull he said, he would retire in case he won't get the Red Bull seat.


So we'll never see Pérez in IndyCar. Unfortunately.

He could always change his mind. But it is unlikely he would go to a minor team, so were unlikely to see him in a top drive, and that means we will probably never see him in IndyCar.

It is now official, Prema has signed Shwartzman alongside Illot. It will be interesting to see a new team form in Indycar. What was the last brand new team? Lotus?

The fact that Liberty were sniffing around wanting to make another F1 event for the West Coast viewers of F1 and Gerald Forsythe put it in the hands of Penske is an all-round win for IndyCar.
