Burns blames Grist for his feud with McRae

In an interview with Motorsport News, Richard Burns has surprisingly blamed Nicky Grist for fuelling the feud between himself and Colin McRae.

"The situation with Colin is much better this year," Burns said. "There were times last year when Colin tried to wind me up and I think a lot of that came from Nicky.

"But it didn't work. It backfired horribly. I'm not going to gloat about it, it is not something I think about. All it did was damage our relationship."

I must admit I find this suprising as McRae seemed to revel in the Burns Baiting at times, and I thought both drivers were strong enough characters to ignore Nicky's efforts to fuel the fire.

I think Burns has missed a shift here. That or he decided it's easier to blame somebody who isn't there and can't fight back, than sort out any problems he had with McRae! I don't hear McRae blaming Robert for anything.

Noticing that McRae isn't exactly a diplomat, I thought it was just his outspoken way of keeping the rivalry interesting.

Don't agree. When the top dog sees a young pretender coming up at him, he lashes out. McRae cannot beat burns, 'cos he keeps crashing. So he got into a verbal feud. Not nice to see.
I'm glad that Burns tried not to get too involved. He's done his talking on the stage.

I think Burns should keep it to himself because he's not involved with the break up. He ought to concentrate on winning the Rally of GB than putting his views on the McRae and Grist split.
