Yeah, and their Speed on Demand thing is great if you want to watch past races...

Just watching the Fontana race on Cart.com.. While it's good racing, I have to admit there's something about engines droning on without any interuption that just puts me to sleep. I think I"ll watch Denver instead...never did see that one.

Go to cart.com, select multimedia, then 'Speed on Demand' and a window will popup... At the bottom you can select the race weekend (I think they're all there), then the session or feed you want. You can play everything with Media Player or Real One. Also, if you click on the zoom button you can enlarge the player window too...

Seriously, you have to give Cart credit, there's no other professional league website that offers this, and it's great! Watch any race any time!

Hey, you can see djb in the background when they're interviewing Dario after the Molson Indy Montreal!

I'm glad you complained too, Liz. United we stand. Perhaps my email to TSN portrayed a little more frustration (anger) than yours, as I didn't even get so much as an automated response! I think they're avoiding me!

I pointed out to them that I write race reports for a website (www.rfmsports.com) and I have a deadline, and it's impossible for me to wait until they get around to broadcasting the race so I had used cart.com's radio feed instead. I didn't mention that I had joined them in progress, but I did mention that to CART.com -- also that I kept the radio feed teed up so that when TSN broke for their 45 commercials, I could keep on following the action. It was polite but forceful.

My email to TSN wasn't really "rude". I didn't start insulting people's mothers or anything like that. But I certainly made it clear that I was disappointed with their coverage, and questioned why they did not broadcast a tape-delay as they had advertised. I also suggested that they not blackout Speed unless if they intend to show the complete programming.

My email to CART was complaining about TSN, (while touting SV), and urged the series to consider not renewing their contract in the future.

We all know how strong the ties are between CART and Molson. Now I'm wondering if the brewery might not have a substantial stake in TSN?

At any rate, I'm quite happy with the way in which CART handled the matter for me. Great PR work with the fans. That's what makes the series the great thing that it is - the way fans can interact, not only with the teams at the track, but also with the management via their website. Had I emailed, say, the Detroit Red Wings with a complaint that I had missed the first period because of a television conflict, I find it very unlikely that they would have even replied, much less FedEx me the video!

I'm happy with the response I got too. I'm happy I got a response at all, in fact. It's nice to know they care we are here. And I fully intend to write them with compliments when they're deserved. (Not TSN. Obviously it's no use writing to them.)

OH NO! SAY IT AIN'T SO!

TSN's gonna be covering Mexico City, too! Hopefully things'll be better this time. It's supposed to be live, even showing the prerace show.

And Thank Goodness! they are, otherwise I as well as most Canadians would never be able to see it at all!

Speedvision does give some great coverage, but the majority of Canadians do not have it. Not everyone has TSN either, but at least it's a good 30 channels lower on the dial. Ideally, Cart races would be broadcast on the major American networks, but that's not happening so Thank You TSN!!!!

Sorry, Jay! I thought SV was becoming pretty standard across the country. We've had it for three years, and the Niagara area has had it for even longer.

You should write to your cable provider. You're missing all of the qualifying coverage!

Jay, while I sympathize with you not getting Speed, I pay extra for it and I resent having something I paid for blacked out so I can see a cut-up, tape delayed, partial of a race on a channel that others don't want to buy.

Why not unblock CART races when TSN knows in advance that it won't be broadcasting the entire race? TSN could then broadcast its truncated version for those who don't have or don't want to pay for Speed Channel.

I could have Speedvision if I paid the extra...$6 or so a month, but I don't pay for my own cable, and there are lots of other more important things the extra money could go towards...like the electricity bill.

I would have preferred if TSN just showed the race from the beginning, but if they are going to cut to it in progress, yes they probably should show on Speed until TSN can pick up the feed, then black it out again when TSN picks it up. But, I think that may be wishful thinking. If TSN pays for the Cart race, they can do whatever they want with it. Unfortunately, there was also a very big football game that ran late, and TSN knows that they would recieve a lot more complaints if they cut the football game.

TSN was great when the only other option was ABC. In fact, Canada probably got the best television coverage anywhere! But that was then, this is now.

When they start joining a race in progress, instead of showing a tape-delay as promised, it's time to get rid of them. They had three hours to show a 2-1/2 hour race, and they didn't even make an attempt at doing so.

I'll always be upset with TSN because the Fontana race. They haven't even replied to my email.

PS) A funny story... When the FedEx truck pulled into the driveway, I couldn't help but notice the large Penske logo on the door. Struck me as ironic.

Jay-top points for observational skills. I thought it would only be a narcissistic yours truly who would have noticed. I made a screen shot of it and sent it to my best friend, and even he thought I was a goof.

Yup, you just come into the frame at the start of the post-race interview with the digital camera covering your face.

Good stuff getting the shots from that media scrum though, it looked like a mess from the media centre. Maybe next time I should try and get on TV .
