If it were your money..........
OK, here it is. Toyota has given Ove the flick. After a desperate search for the man or women to lead the team to victory, you have been chosen.
They have just talked a major tabacco sponsor on board, that will give you an unprecedented budget for the next 3 years to win the championships and give them as much exposure as possible before the ban. To add to your joy, every driver and team member's contracts are up for grabs for the following year, so all are available. All driver's and teams are willing to work together based on the massive salaries you are offering. (eg Michael could race with Juan, and Ron would work with Jacques). You have 2003 to get the car into the top 4, and to win drivers championship in 2004, and both in 2005. And your ass is on the line. Succeed and your a hero, fail and your a loser. So personal preferences should'nt sway you. You should choose whats best for the team. You must fill the following positions: Your two race drivers must have raced in 2002 or be already signed for 2003. Your one test driver must currently be a test driver and can't be a driver. For all other positions, you can only pick one person from a team. Example, you can't pick the Ferrari Engine designer and the Ferrari car designer. You can answer with a name (and tell us which team they are from) or if you don't know you can just mention the team you would poach them from. You also can't pick people that would'nt work in another team due to ownership (like Frank Williams & Eddie Jordan etc), only employees. Driver 1: Driver 2: Test Driver: Car designer: Engine designer: Aero specialist: Pit crew: Note - please don't turn this thread into another excuse to driver bash, settle scores from other threads or hi-jacking. |

Driver 1: Michael Schumacher (I'd be stupid not to, even if I dislike him)
Driver 2: Personal preference - Mark Webber or Nick Heidfeld. Both are capable points scorers, and with the right car will win. Test Driver: Alexander Wurz Car Designer: Eghbal Hamidy (He was not given time to develop the Jordan, so that is not a reflection of his undoubted talent) Engine Designer: Whoever does those BMWs! Aero Specialist: Adrian Newey (Would YOU choose anyone else?) Pit Crew: Oh...er...no idea to be honest... |

Driver 1 - Heinz-Harald Frentzen (Has enough experience to lead);
Driver 2 - Kimi Raikkonen (Probably the most exciting young driver around); Test Driver - Luca Badoer (Has all that Ferrari experience and knowledge); Car Designer - Gary Anderson (Good designer - he did the Jordan 191 for starters); Engine Designer - Paulo Martinelli (Produced reliable engines for the past couple of years); Aerodynamicist - Adrian Newey (The main man in this area); Pit Crew - The Sauber Crew (Well drilled, and they wouldn't have to travel too far from home, seeing as Toyota are based in Germany). |

Driver One - Kimi Raikkonen
Driver Two - Rubens Barrichello Two blokes that compliment each other nicely. Kimi is very quick, and maybe a bit ragged, but we have Rubens to back him up. Team orders will not be issued, but Kimi is the number one. Test Driver - Stephane Sarrazin He's got a lot of testing miles up know, would be a handy back up driver. His Brazil 1999 performance was useful. Car Designer - Gustav Brunner His Minardis were always very neat vehicles, I'd stick with him, with Sergio Rinland working on the car also. Aerodynamics - Eghal Hamidy Responsible for the neatly packaged Arrows of 2000 and also I believe had input into the Jordan of this year. Pit Crew - Nigel Stepny Nigel Stepny of Ferrari can lead the rest of the Pracing Horse boys in the pits. Very slick, very smooht. Can you remember the last time they stuffed up? |

Re: If it were your money..........
Driver 1: Michael Schumacher - like F1man, an absolute must
Driver 2: Kimi - I think Kimi is so fast, that he could challenge Michael on occassion, and shadow him at all other times. JPM would be quick also, but would take too many risks with his team-mate. I want my cars to finish 1-2 (or 7-8 depending on the car) as much as possible. Test Driver: I would go for Bodoer as well. Ferrari know what they are doing with him. Car designer: Gustav Brunner - the Toyota has'nt been impressive, but he arrived very late in the game. As mentioned, he made some very tidy cars at Minardi. Engine designer: Rory Byrne (Ferrari) Fast & reliable - everything you want in a car. Aero specialist: Adrian Newey (McLaren) - He da man! Plus he can work on my boat in the winter Pit crew: Williams - no missing wheels here. |

Drivers - Raikkonen / Fisichella: Bold and the Beautiful.
Tester - Nguyen: I believe he's a natural, just needs some exp to level up and hope he's mature enough to handle it, so to speak. Car Designer - Gustav's good enough with the budget I think, but he'd listen to my suggestions. Engine Designer - Eh, not my strong point. But I'd be head hunting at Cosworth. Aero Designer - Newey's a popular choice but I'd most probably seek a small team of younger, cheaper designers and set them to jointly work with Gustav and the mechanical boys. I'd oversee personally the attention to detail. Pit Crew: Ferrari/McLaren but personally if you train them well enough, any pit crew could be fastest. Tyres: Seek out a sole supply deal with Dunlop or Pirelli. Most likely Dunlop. Electrics: NEC. Last edited by golem; 21 Nov 2002 at 15:27. |

Driver 1: Michael Schumacher
Driver 2: Juan Pablo Montoya Test Driver: Wurz and/or Badoer Car designer: Not my strong point, Rory Byrne perhaps, EDS PLM design software, as used by Jaguar and Jordan. Engine designer: Hmmm... they'd be German Aero specialist: Adrian Newey, who else? Pit crew: Liverpool work experience kids led by Nigel Stepney Technical Director/Tactical Genius - Ross Brawn. Probably broken the guidelines on no. of people from one team there, but hey rules are there to be broken!! Aren't they?? |

Driver 1: Michael Schumacher (he gets that extra 0.8 of a second)
Driver 2: Jacques Villeneuve (he's my favourite) No team orders. Test driver: Marc Gené Designer: Rory Byrne. No doubt about that! Engine designers: Paolo Martinelli, Gilles Simon from Ferrari and Mario Ilien from Ilmor. Heckuva engine! Aero: Adrian Newey i can't think of more people... but you can see them all are from ferrari, almost |

Driver 1: Rubens
Driver 2: da Matta Test Driver: Burti Car body: 1979 Ferrari. If I can't have that one, I'll take the Williams. Engine: BMW Pit Crew: Team Rahal No. 8 car crew. No team orders and no pretending you have radio trouble or can't speak English. And no cheating. Bank Account; Numbered. Swiss. I'll probably get canned but I don't care. My team will be competitive and we will have fun. |

Driver 1: M. Schumacher
As much as i don't like him you go for the best in the business. Driver 2: M. Webber Apart from being an Aussie he's consistently quick, easy on the car & very rarely crashes. Test Driver: M. Gene Spent a couple of years testing Williams where he should have learnt a lot. Car Designer: J. Barnard One of the best there's ever been Aero Designer: A. Newey Like Barnard his track record speaks for itself Pit Crew: The Ferrari Crew Apart from the fact they're very good at what they do they have a good work relationship with Schumacher which is a huge plus. |

I'm spending Schumacher's salary on other parts of the car. Budget may be unlimited, but mine'll still be bigger without him. Also, since he's the best he'll keep us honest. It's the fag co.'s money and I'll stash enough money away for a decade's worth of privateer sportscar racing!
Drivers: Rubens and Montoya. MS knows both these guys can beat him more often than most. Test Driver: Can I have Alain Prost? Or Damon? Failing that, Badoer. Brunner/Newey/BMW motors with Martinelli at the helm/Williams Pit Crew |
