Alex Yoong announcement due this week

Not to beat a dead horse but accorrding to F1-Live.com the Yoong announcement in CWS will be made at the end of this week. I think Yoongs manager is a little full of it saying that he SHOULD come to CWS be CONSISTENLY in the top six and the writer had this to say "While it is still unknown which team the former Minardi driver will be competing for, it is known that they have the potential to be extremely competitive, meaning that the 26 year old should be running in the top ten on a regular basis with podium finishes and maybe even a win here and there a distinct possibility." I know LIZ give him a chance but it makes it sound like CWS will be a cakewalk for any F1 reject it usually isn't the case (Takagi, Nakano, Fittipaldi.......).

Well lets face it, what's his press officer going to say except that? He wouldn't keep his job long if he said "We hope our driver will be able to find the steering wheel and learn what all the buttons are by the end of the season."

I think we all ought to lighten up on Yoong. Let's see what he does in a Champ car - as has been pointed out by fans of drivers like Alesi, skilled though they are the current F1 car is not an easy or successful drive for them.

No, I am not comparing Yoong to Alesi, but his failure to do well for a really crappy team in F1 does not doom him to failure in all other series.

Well, John, he not only failed to do well on a crappy team, he failed to do well within that crappy team. His teammate always made the 107% cutoff.

That said, I'll give him a chance to prove himself.

Agreed, but I am also looking at the results after his "vacation" and while still slower than Webber he was much closer to him and made the cut.

The proof will be in the pudding though - we shall see soon enough!

Although Yoong was a waste of space in F1, it will be in Champ Cars where he will be allowed to prove if he's got talent or not. Good luck to him.
