Control tyres for WRC??

A proposal to introduce a control tyre system to the World Rally Championship is expected to be put before the FIA World Council, later this month and if approved would be implemented in 2005. The idea would be that only one tyre manufacturer would be allowed to supply the manufacturer cars in the championship and that it would only offer a limited range of tyres.

Will this improve the competition in the WRC, or take away a vital part of the skill (ie; tyre choice)??

Uhm.... I'd have to hear more of the specifics to really have an opinion, but those morons running F1 should stay the hell away from WRC!

Yeah Ive got to agree there, Ecclestone and Mosley and co have done a great job in wrecking F1 lets not see another great championship fall by the way side.

There is pros and cons for control tyres

Pros - It will slow development, possibly making the tarmac events abit safer, and it means tyres will no longer be an excuse for a poor time.

cons - Takes away competion between tyre manufacturers, takes money away

What series' have benefited from control tyres? I can't think of one.

I don't like the idea, although it might work with rallying.
