What do you think is the best series of sportscar racing in the world today?
I like the ALMS because it is thriving at the moment and is being run not aonly for the competitors but the fans as well. The racing is great and the drivers get a fair go agaisnt professional teams. The FIA series is ok but privateers dont really get as many good opportunities to compete with the top level teams. So I reckon the Alms is the best now but you may have another opinion...Do tell |

I'm waiting to see how the Grand-Am series shakes out after Daytona to make my judgement. Right now, I'd say the ALMS is my favorite, but I don't like only two teams with a shot to win (Panoz and BMW). I really miss the FIA GT series of 1997, when they had the real sports cars, the Mercedes, Porsche, McLaren, etc. The FIA GT of last year was a joke. (a cruel one)

The ALMS is probably the best and most even for factory and privateer. The GARRC will do OK, but will lack of big names will limit the initial hype.
As far as the FIA goes, they have done and will continue to keep all other series subservient to F1. Witness the heights DTM attained before Bernie dismantled it. The same happened to the original FIA GT series. Both od these series had real wheel to wheel racing and that is not allowed to shine a poor light on the current F1. |

May I nominate the British GT Championship?
I saw 3 races in this series last year (Silverstone, Donington and Snetterton) and enjoyed everyone of them. There is such a diversity of proper GT cars (ie. ones which you can actually buy if you've got the money), much more than the 'international' series, the list published on SportscarWorld with prospective entries for 2000 includes a Ferrari F40 and F360, Porsche 993 and 996, a Nissan Skyline, a Ginetta G33, Vipers, a Corvette, various Marcos, Listers and a couple of TVRs (including the Speed 12). Finally, the races are shown on terestial tv in the UK (Channel 4) so you can watch all the action at home and keep up with what is happening. |

It sounds like what the prototype series should be.
