A crash course in CART?
Hi all
Been getting more and more interested in CART recently, all the media coverage of Darren Manning here has got me interested. So in light of that, I've decided this is the year I will sit up and take notice! I'm requesting your help as to what I should do to learn even more!? Watch it on TV (I believe Eurosport has a deal for this year over here?), visit websites etc? I already know the first race is St. Petersburg on February 23... how's that for progress Cheers all! PS - Darren Manning is already my wallpaper. Last edited by touringlegend; 15 Feb 2003 at 22:29. |

CART's own CART.com gives good explanations about much stuff. There is also a How Stuff Works page about CART, but that one might be outdated....
I think the best you can do is ask us things... We'll surely come with the answer! |

Very nice! I've got the one that's been posted in the desktop images thread in the Gravel Trap, of the car at speed!

It would be nice to have even more Brits, Scots, etc. interested in CART. I think if people over there knew more about CART they'd be quiet taken.

Perhaps it's a bit of blatant self promoting, but you can see my preview at my website - http://cfm.globalf1.net/features/articles/014/index.htm
Might have some useful stuff in there |

As I already know from watching the WRC on Eurosport, I can also be guarenteed with over - running programmes too!
Looking forward to next Sunday, if I can get near the TV! |

From DNQ's Site:
Chequered Flag Top Ten: 1. Bruno Junqueira 2. Paul Tracy 3. Sebastien Bourdais 4. Michel Jourdain Jr 5. Patrick Carpentier 6. Oriol Servia 7. Roberto Moreno 8. Jimmy Vasser 9. Ryan Hunter-Reay 10. Darren Manning I'd put PC & Servia above Jourdain, swap Bourdais and Bruno. Also depends on guys like Salo and Lotterer showing up. Even with no points in the first few races they could be serious contenders. If Fernadez's team can stop sucking, he's got the talent to mix it up at the top. Yeah, that's kinda how I got into CART, following a driver at first, but for me it was Greg Moore. I recommend joining the Fantasy Racing Pool here on the forum, and the one at cart.com once it starts up, just to keep you involved. Soon your interest will grow, and you'll watch every race on TV, until it becomes borderline obsession and you loose complete control!!!!!!!!!
Well, happy racing! |

My signature says everything about how I feel about Greg Moore.
Touringlegend, I'm sure there will be questions about why things are done the way they are. Especially if you are used to how races are run in Europe series (ie: F1). Rolling starts, closed pits during yellow flags, restarts, etc are all done differently compared to F1 and some other series. Please feel free to ask any questions. |

Sounds similar to me and the BTCC. I'm sure a lot of questions will be getting asked this year! (you're all bound to get bored rigid with me by the end of the season..) |
