Who?

ARIE LUYENDIJK!!! That's who

He going to race again at indy in 2001 either with Chip Canassi or Treadway.

Finally the Dutchman returns after a year lay-off.

while i think Arie is an excellent driver and always does well at Indy ..i dont think a driver should retire and then come back a year or so later..once you've had enough then thats it..but I guess its a bug and if you feel you can still do and want to do it then give it a go.

with either team he should do well and has driven for both in the past so he should know alot of the people there..good luck to him but i hope he gets plenty of testing before the may classic.

If Luyendyck does indeed return with Ganassi to Indy, he could be a tough guy to beat. Obviously Ganassi had the best pit crew at Indy last year and his chassis engineers know what it will take to make the car fast there. With Luyendyck's experience and obvious talent for Indy he could get another win there.

Arie Luyendyck and Treadway-Hubbard Racing made it official today that the Dutchman would make another attempt at Indy this summer.

Gerard should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Arie Luyendyk will drive an Aurora-powered G Force for Treadway-Hubbard Racing, run by chief mechanic Skip Faul and engineer Tim Wardrop - both part of Luyendyk’s 1997 winning squad.

'My desire to keep racing at Indianapolis has never stopped,' he said.
'I was in the broadcast booth last year and realised that probably wasn’t where I wanted to be. When I said I was going to retire after the 1999 race, it was part of a plan. Well, as we know, things change in life and I now feel this is the right thing for me to do and I have the support of my wife and family. Put it this way: I'm coming back for the love of the sport and, especially, the love of Indy.'

Luyendyk holds a number of records at Indianapolis, including the fastest one lap in qualifying at 237.498 mph and the four-lap average of 236.986 mph.
He has won over $5.5 million in prize money at the speedway and is one of 15 drivers to have won the Indy 500 twice.

Well if Mario can do Le Mans at age 60, Ari can try Indy at 47. Well done, the old guys!

Oh, right, Mario was a boat anchor, wasn't he?

I await a Press Release from Little Al, warning Ari that Indy can be dangerous. When Ari stops laughing, I am sure he will reply.
