Least Powerful/Slowest Rallycar
Everyone talks about the quickest/most powerful rallycar but what was the least powerful/Slowest rallycar ever to compete.
Apparantly the Trabant may return to rallying as its going to be produced in another country? as a low cost car. Last edited by JAG; 24 May 2003 at 13:31. |

the slowest and probably least powerful rally car ever was my 1300 Mk1 Escort. I dropped a valve which broke and wore a hole through the piston. Had to do 12 miles of fast tarmac on the Jim Clark with a max speed of 25mph on 3 cylinders.

The Steyr Puch and Wartburg's seen in the late sixties early seventies probably rank as the slowest rally cars ever seen, they were (if I remember correctly) two stroke engines of approximately 600cc.
Another contender would be the Citreon BX 4x4 Turbo group B car, although it should really rank as the biggest turkey of a rally car. |

You'll probably find out that there were a few good candidates in the first RAC Rally (1932) when rallies were more reliability tests than the closed stage events we've come to know over the past 40 years.
