Has any one got any news on Jason Plato, is he coming back or not?

Yes, he's coming back to the series after Thruxton, but he's only got enough money to buy a drive with one of the Production teams, so I believe he'll be piloting Tom Boardman's old Peugeot 306 for the remainder of the year.

Gosh, that's a bit of a come down. I wonder what his big plan is? maybe he won't let the Vauxhalls through when they come to lap him!

He was contracted to do ASCAR this year but he didn't do round 1.
Jason's been linked to an ETCC SEAT drive next year and he's fronting the SEAT cupra thingy for ITV so if you want to interrogate him he's most likely to be at Silverstone this weekend. ;-) |

I am sure if he REALLY really wanted to do the BTCC he could just open his cheque book and do it.

Perhaps some of the more aggressive drivers should consider that there is a lesson to be learned here.....
As someone's signature recently said... be nice to people on the way up cause you'll meet them on your way back down.... |

I think it's is grosely sad that an aggressive, detirmined winner like Jason Plato can't be accepted in the touring car world. In 2001 had it not been for him, we would have had a procession!
The Muller incident, was not deliberate, if that's how you are judging a drivers whole career. Although he's not really racing this year, I'm sure his TV pay packet beats any bodies in the BTCC or on this forum. The guy has a private jet!(according to one ASCAR programme) I don't think he's going down somehow! |

I think JP was a great asset to the BTCC and the teams he drove for. Being employed originally by Frank Williams is no mean feat and I would say that in M'Sport he is one of the best judges of character and has an eye for serious talent. Surely him and DW cannot both have been wrong ??

Consider the reasoning behind Vauxhall not wishing to have a car with a number 1 on the doors following Plato's championship win.
That must have been a difficult decision to make, if only from a marketing point of view. Therefore, I would suggest that GM thought his "aggresive", win regardless of the consequences style has earned him the title of ARSE! I for one would prefer he stay wherever he is...but I am but one tiny voice in the crowd. |

Perhaps Mr Plato is having too much fun elsewhere.
Is he really missed? |
