Assuming that if you are reading this forum you have a care for club level motorsport, it follows that a number of posters here would be members of local/national/one-make car clubs.

If your car club runs a race series, what are the magazine reports like? Comprehensive? Illustrated? The reason I ask is that it's pointless hoping for Autosport to properly report grass-roots racing, but I would like to know if there are any club level titles to be looking out for in my travels. Do the BARC and BRSCC still publish mags?

Equally, if you marshal or support at one particular track over all others (Anyone say the word Combe?) is there a results newsletter or something?

Just a query from an obsessive archivist, you understand.

An interesting subject!!!

Autosport has lost direct on the national racing scene front - in fact I've recently stopped buying it - a waste of money!!

Lots of clubs I've come across supply excellent coverage of their racing series - the best I've seen is the AROC (Alfas). The MGCC / MGOC / 750 MC have decent coverage in their monthly magazines..

However, the best way of getting info - is through the internet.. I use http://www.ukmotorsport.com and the 'circuit racing' section to get most of my news. Organisers like the Monoposto race series have excellent webpages with the latest news, and Castle Combe covers it's own series.

It's a shame that I have to resort to trailing through the internet to get my news, surely there must be scope for a Club Magazine that covers all national racing?? Or would it be difficult to get news from the clubs as they have their own magazines - which are commercial.

The nearest I've seen to a decent club magazine - was a journal called 'Speed & Style', only covered sportscars, but was good - although only available through subscription. That was a couple of years ago, and I couldn't really justify the expense!! Haven't seen it sinceā€¦

I have a subscription to Motoring News, which provides coverage of just about every type of club racing going. Sometimes in depth - sometimes in brief. Always interesting though, and it comes out every week.

The BRSCC still do a magazine, but it's generally only a few pages monthly ( I think ), and only skims the surface of what's happening on BRSCC club-land.
