SJ Spode should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Cyprus may make way for Mexico

www.worldrallynews.com are reporting that the Cyprus Rally could be replaced for 2004 by Mexico.

Apparently the FIA are considering ditching one of the SE Mediterranean rounds; Greece, Cyprus or Turkey, and as Cyprus is the smallest country of the three and has the smallest market for manufacturers and sponsors - it could be the likely target.

So which one should go?, or should another WRC round leave the calandar for 2004?

Yep it should go,the drivers dont enjoy it much, the stages are a bit slow(compared to other rallys)which doesnt get much air in the car and makes things uncomfortable, plus theres to many rallys around the Med.The good thing about Cyprus is,it offers spectators a cheap holiday to watch their hero's

Yeah, American fans can go south of the border to watch their WRC heroes. Mexico could turn out to have rough gravel similiar to Turkey and Greece.

Hmm... Just so long as they don't have the same problems with corrupt public officials that the Baja guys have had. Police harrasment on the road between stages, things like that. Mexico's got a big problem with systemic corruption.

Still, I can think of far worse places for a WRC round!

How Cyrprus got a round in the first place is a mystery to me.
