There are good chances that a round of the World Rally may be held in Colorado in 2001 with the final round of the rally televised at the Pikes Peak HillClimb. The SCCA in a rare bit of insight has hired the promoting team that does the Chinese and Australian Rounds of the World Rally Championship to setup and promote the initial regional round that must be held before being considered for a WRC date. The Asian-Pacific Rally Series will add the Colorado event to their schedule and the FIA will be present to observe and make a decision on having a US WRC date. Apparently Ford, Subaru, and Mitsubishi are keen to have a US Rally as the US is the single largest market for autos for each company.

...just get on your knees and pray that the SCCA will not (as rumoured) be handling the local aspects of an American round of the WRC. Those people could make Santa Claus look evil.
