Well, a grid of 15 of these cars still won't be as interesting to me as the smaller grid of LMPs I'll see at Mosport this year. They'd likely be about 20-25% off the pace, and that's noticeable.

mayk, hey dude!
nice that you showed up here. It does look that some of the stalwarts in GA are making the switch over to the DPs, whereas those that either don't have the cash or major support to buy such an entry will have to settle for the other end of the grid. Such is life, though... |

Wait to the story breaks of the ALMS team (Not Essex) that is close to signing up for a full season with GARRA in the DP class... if the team does complete this deal and pulls out of ALMS all together (highly possible) your head will spin right off your shoulders! Promised source I would not name, but received confirmation from three individuals at the track that the deal is all but done.

How soon can we expect this announcement? Any hint as to which chassis they would use?

Don't think it really matters, as those ALMS fans our unlikely to watch G/A instead of ALMS.
They could have 40DPs and it wouldn't interest me. The cars are what I watch sportscars for. If I just wanted to see 'good' racing I'd watch Formula Ford. |

According to Crash, Essex is going to be in with a Multimatic. Wow, there has certainly been a couple of days of news about Grand Am cars sales, hasn't there?

Well it was about time Raffy canned that old Italtecnica heap, and moved on to something new. Good luck with the Maser!

These Multimatic purchases, could someone cite their sources? I beleive we can expect a Crawford and possibly an R&S at the finale. I haven't heard anything about the Mosler DP conversion. Has the Pegasus Doran-Toyota been completed?

Essex will also continue in the ALMS, into 2004 if the right package is available.

Thank you Paul, don't know how I missed that.
Very cool, I'm telling you this class is going to be great with a higher mumber of competitors. I seriously doubt Speedsource will get that test car. Maybe at the finale, so it would be fair for both customers. I'm sure Multimatic is getting that car ready for Daytona next year. |

All these new entrants might cause me to consider returning to the Glen next year...this year's six hour race was exciting, I have to admit, even if some people think it was sabotaged or whatsoever. I always thought the SpeedSource guys deserved to move up from GA Cup.

edited to say that doesn't necessarily mean it won't be raced by someone before then... Last edited by paul-collins; 3 Jul 2003 at 03:18. |
