btcc drivers non-race cars
Does anyone know what cars current or former btcc drivers use outside of the race circuits ?
I know that Jimmy T used to have a Honda NSX and I believe David Leslie had a Skyline GTR, hard to imagine Vauxhall and Proton supplying such cars to its drivers now. |

A couple of years ago, I was at the BRDC Winter Warmer weekend at Silverstone, and in the pit next to us on test day was one of the production teams testing out an ex works Primera and one of the 406 Coupes. Matt Neal was there, chatting to the guys and generally making a nuisance of himself. He said he wouldn't be there the following morning cos he was doing his CBT.
Yep. Matt Neal was taking his bike test. Frankly, two years on, I'm amazed the man's still alive... |

A year or so before that we coincided with the National Saloon Cars round at Pembrey, where Andy Middlehurst was hooning around in a modded Skyline, reg N1 SMO. Shame the rules meant his track car was only a 2.0 Primera rather than the Skylines he'd . Didn't stop him winning though...
Last I heard he was racing a Lotus Cortina in the Historic Touring/GT series... |

it seems as if btcc drivers get given the same car to drive off the track as on
type r's are ideal for lazy people who don't like changing down gears as they pull away cleanly in high gears |
