Why don't they have each team makes up a twin seater with healvily restricted regs so that they are similar (but not exactly the same) performance. Make each team put two of their drivers in - could be test or reserve drivers if they wish but have a rule that ensures the main drivers appear at least x number of times in the season.
But. And a big, yet interesting but. Make one driver have control of the accelerator and brakes and the other control of the steering!!!!!!!!!!!! Wouldnt like to see it as part of F1, but as a 'fun' sunday morning spectical it could be intertaining. It could also force some team members to work together! Iain |

I saw on television few years back some front engined 50's style cars, but with full safety gace, racing in England, driven by, among others, Martin Donnelly and Perry McCarthy. What was these races about?

I saw these at Donington Park about ten years ago. I think they supported the TOCA Shoot Out ("Nige's year"!).
Where they called Formula Classic? |

Just as a sort of Russian roulette, hack the brakes of one celebrity car, and, please sit Mosley on it. It would be fun! Prof. Sid could do some practice now that major accidents are (luckily) rare. Better of all, as a result, F1 could be better.

Yeah, sounds like Formula Classic.
Proposed in April '95, this was Tom Wheatcroft's (owner of Donnington for donkeys' years, don't know if he still is) brainchild: A championship for gentlemen drivers in three quarter scale generic '50s GP spec-chassis. Afraid I can't remember what the specs were. I'm pretty sure the series never ran, but one-off races would have been possible because the cars were certainly built: the fleet was advertised for sale in the back of Autosport a few years later. I never saw them running, did they make for good racing? I don't think they were spectacularly powerful, so I expect that they would have been pretty similar to Formula Fords -- no aero, four wheel drifts, lots of overtaking . |
