We are delighted to finally unveil the brand new version of our forum software. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Chris Yates for all his help with this upgrade.

We must also apologise to all of our visitors for the downtime over the past few hours whilst we worked to install the software, but we're sure you'll appreciate it in the long run... If you should run across any bugs or have any questions, please feel free to post in the Questions/Suggestions/Feedback forum.

Here is a quick run down of the major additions and changes to the 10 Tenths Motorsport Discussion Forum:

My Forum
Fully fledged user control panel where you can manage the whole of your forum requirements.

Subscribe to topics and forums
Now you can easily keep track of all the topics and forums which are of interest to you, managed from one central area.

Improved private messaging
Now you can manage stored messages with user definable folders, and receive email as soon as new messages are received, or a popup alert next time you log on.

Buddy list
Allows you to maintain a list of your buddies on the forum. You can then see if they are on-line, or send them a private message with a single click.

Ignore user feature
This is something which we you will look back and wonder why no-one took 5 minutes to invent previously! So simple, yet so vital! You'll never have to put up with spammers or irritating posters again!

Alert moderator button
Should you come across an objectional post which contravenes our forum rules, simply click the 'Alert Moderator' button to notify the forum staff immediately.

Upgraded search engine
Totally rewritten - now easier, faster and more intuitive to use. And it also searches per post, rather thsn per topic - doesn't sound much of a change, but wait till you try searching - you'll be amazed at how much easier it is to find the information you're looking for.

Improved download time
GZip pages and optimised database structure, as well as a totally rewritten backend.

Topic rating
Rate individual topics with a score of 1-5

Topic sorting
You can now list forum topics in whichever order you like - you can sort the list on the topic name, topic starter, number of replies, number of views, the topic's rating, or the last post date. And you can then sort specify to list these in ascending or descending order.

Improved member profiles
We have added fields for you to list your birthday, your interests, your location, and for you to show a photograph.

Revised user interface
We have totally redesigned the user interface to improve your browsing pleasure! We've kept the best bits, got rid of the bad bits, and introduced a load of new bits

Mark all posts as read
Rather than having to wait for your session to time out, you can now reset the new post indicators during a session by clicking the 'Mark All Posts As Read' at the bottom of the forum home page.

Cookies
You no longer need to have cookies enabled to be able to use the forums.

Attachments
You no longer need to have access to your own webspace in order to post photos or other images with your message. You can now upload a file at the same time as you post your message - quick and easy.

Spell check
We have listened to users requests for a spell checker, and you will be able to run a spell check should you wish to do so when you post your messages.

Polls
You can now run your own polls on the forum. You select the question, a number of possible answers, and let the software do the rest!

Fully fledged calendar
View other forum users birthdays, a full list of 2001 motorsport events (to be added shortly by Lorna at www.trackdates.com ) or why not add your own private events ?

Forum affiliates scheme
Should you own your own motorsport website, we can now offer you the chance to benefit from all of the above improvements by having your own free forum in your own site's style.

Hot topics
Watch out for admin designated 'Hot Topics' appearing at the head of the forum list - they will always contain something which we feel is of special or really topical interest.

Dot topics
Easily see which topics you have contributed to - simply watch for the 'dot topics' on the forum list. Not sure what we are talking about ? Make a post, reload the forum list and see for yourself...

Forum Affiliates Scheme
Another major feature of the latest forum package is the addition of our forum affiliates scheme. This will allow us to syndicate our forums on an unlimited number of hand-picked affiliate motorsport websites. This will be of benefit to all concerned - us (we get more exposure for our forum network), the affiliated site (they get what we believe to be the number one motorsport forum on their own site in their forum style} and, above all, you! The more exposure that the network gets, the more users we get and the more fun it will be to use the forums.

In addition to the above new features and forum partners, we've also taken this opportunity to make a few alterations to the forum structure:

• All Other Classes will become 'National and Club Racing'
• New forums - in association with our new forum partners, we have added Karting and Speedway forums.
• New forum administrator - AMoffat has kindly agreed to join us as our latest forum administrator. We would ask you to welcome AM to his post.
