Veloqx to race in British GT!
SOURCE:http://www.crash.net/uk/en/news_view...d=14&nid=73304
Still hotly in pursuit of the FIA N-GT class crown, Veloqx Motorsport will take one of its proven Team Maranello Concessionaires Ferrari 360 Modenas to Thruxton's British GT Championship round next weekend to test development parts ahead of the end-of-season shootout. Having secured the British GTO Championship title for Ferrari during its maiden year in 2002, Brackley-based Veloqx turned its attention to the FIA GT Championship this year. With TMC's red-and-blue Ferraris currently running in second position in the teams' classification after six rounds, and the championship enjoying a respite ahead of round seven at Anderstorp in early September, the team is taking the opportunity to gain valuable extra track time in order to up its performance for the final few rounds of the international season. The team's third Ferrari 360 will race in round nine of the British Championship as an opportunity to test several new developments that, if successful, will find their way on to the team's two FIA GT cars later in the year. In addition, Thruxton presents Veloqx Motorsport with an opportunity to return to a series that it knows and has enjoyed so much success. “We know we have a great many admirers in the UK after our 2002 success,” commented Veloqx chief mechanic Steve Hagger, “Whilst most of the teams in the FIA GT Championship will be enjoying a month's break now, we have decided to continue our work by returning to our roots, so to speak. "The team enjoyed its time in the British GT Championship last year, and unanimously agreed that Thruxton was a good opportunity to compete at the highest level in the UK again. We'd like to be competitive, of course, but also take the opportunity to test a number of new components that we are developing to assist us in our aim to secure the FIA N-GT title as TMC this year.” Leading the charge at the Hampshire speedbowl will be one of TMC FIA Championship contenders, Tim Mullen, who will co-drive with 2002 Veloqx Motorsport driver - and recent Proximus 24 Hours of Spa competitor - Andrew Kirkaldy.
