Cosworth - what are they playing at?!
OK - please feel free to add to the tally, but I count 3 engines from Fisi and one from Zsolt, one from Minardi and one from Jaguar. A good weekends work.
All in very small parts at various points in the green bits of the Hungaroring. They weren't any good to start with; Can an engine manufacturer like this have any future in motor racing?! |

Hmm. They did okay with Webber, but yeah it was a bad weekend. Still, over the season as a whole their reliability record isn't that awful.

Webber finished in 6th. Well, that is another three points so it's not ALL bad... it's just the fact that four of the six cars stopped is cause for concern!

oops, strange double post....
I think Cosworth are quite good, but they're in a bit of a slump, it's very hard to match up to BMW, Ferrari and Mercedes these days. Last edited by MichaelH; 24 Aug 2003 at 15:34. |

Ford had a weekend similar to the one Honda has in Spa last year. Strangely though no one is laughing at them.
Webber must have been really concerned. Maybe this explains his lack of race pace. I can only assume they detuned his motor a little to make it last. He still did well though. I was never a real fan of his but he is definately a stady and sensible driver. |

Their engines are a bit of a joke, but 3 of their engines going in one race..nah just coincidence I'd say..

I dont think Honda has had an engine failure at all this year. Maybe one. I think Peter Mallett was speaking about the car in general. If not then yeah, the motors have been exceptional as far as reliability is concerned. In fact, even JV has been singing its praises, something he has not done since 2000.

te cossie engines are surely working on their horsepopwer and static tests showed good, so in race conditions blammmo!
webber did superb considering he really is a gem, if Cosworth can get their sheet together. perhaps they are spread too thin? IRL, Champcar, nasamax, Jordan, Minardi, Jaguar.... |

I would say that Webber hit the same button Zsolt did in the qualifying run, to reduce the revs in the engine so it didnt lunch itself.
Webber was carrying that car most of the race, pushing it faster than its specification said it deserved to go.... Having said that, given that MW is the lead driver of the Cosworth 6, perhaps he gets more cotton-wooled motors? |
