Just have one tyre supplier. This farce over tyre legality is the best reason I can think of. Plus, with a tyre war, it isn't the driver or car that wins, it's the tyres that win. |

- Slick tires
- One tire supplier that has to give equal tires to any team thus all non-Ferrari bridgestone runners would do much better as would some Michelin runners. - Fatter rear tires - and finally replace Bernie & Max and get someone who actually cares about the sport still, Brundle was it who said i best 'ill with money'. or as amuch more radical approach as Yoong Montoya said ban tires and make the third/fourth test driver get his worth by carrying the car and driver round the track it will solve fitness issues :-) Launch control would be replaced simply with curry and beans, word is Renualt are already signing up Jamie Oliver ;-) Last edited by Phoenix1; 19 Sep 2003 at 21:28. |

Banning tires would be great!!!
Those who miss the sparks would get plenty of them! Last edited by ElScOrChO; 19 Sep 2003 at 23:44. |

Yawn!
It ain't surprising that Michelin is trying to spark a fire in Bridgestone camp. Monza's Bridgestone-win result after a series of Michelin-domination only adds to solidify the suspicious that the previous races were dominated only due to Michelin-tires which overstep the legality of the rules. Once the tires were being scrutinized and controlled, Michelins get beaten. Michelin's only trying to deflect the guilt and to limit-damage to their reputation, and the best way is to drag Bridgestone into the mud. Furthermore, Ferrari is holding the trumph card that they could have officially submit a protest to at least 4 results of Hungary and prior achieved by Michelin, claiming that Michelin cheat. Hence, even if Michelin and their team won, it would be one tainted championship...something that is not desired by Michelin winning their first recent championship, or Kimi or JPM winning their maiden...IF it happens. So, by counter-attacking Bridgestone, it is sort of threatening Ferrari-Bridgestone in maintaining the mind-game balance between the 2 rivals. That said, all Michelin's achieving now is only clutching at straws knowing that they have to caught with their pants down. |

GtR, if you don't mind me saying, I think you're being a bit immature by constantly refering to Michelin as cheats. Our sport is dependant on manufacturers supplying the goods/money to allow us to enjoy our sport. A huge organisation like Michelin does not invest vast resources just to end up being labelled 'cheats'. If the tyre manufacturers decide they don't like the bad publicity they gain from supporting F1, where does that leave us all?
I can't see how Michelin can be cheating if the fia have ratified their tyres. The fia declared Michelins (and Bridgestones) tyres legal. Now, if Michelin had swapped those tyres and raced on other tyres, that would be cheating. But they raced on the tyres that the fia were happy with, and have done so for almost two years. Now the fia have changed their interpretation, which shows that the fia's previous interpretation was unsatisfactory. But how you can change an interpretation mid-season I do not know. They should do so next year. If Michelin have benefitted by a better interpretation than Bridgestone, well that's Bridgestones fault. Bridgestone has been using a tyre well inside the maximum dimensions by choice. At Monza it rewarded them by producing less drag which allowed Schumi to run at over 230mph at Monza. Bridgestone may have started something they may come to regret, and we may all be worse off by it. |

I go for the contrary. Instead of having 2 tires, it would be better to have 4 or more.
