Team Corvette driver Chris Kneifel has abdicated his racing seat with the factory team for his new job as Chief Steward of CART and another veteran racer has taken the seat. Former CART and sportscar racer Scott Pruett will join Chevy favorites Ron fellows and Johnny O'Connell in the number 1 factory GTS entrant. Also, O'Connell's contract has been extended to include the entire season.
This makes a very talented and extremely experienced team lineup for the bowtie marque. With a renewed attack for the GTS title looking to be between Team Corvette and the new Saleen S7R entries and the LMP class being an all-Audi affair, the GTS class may see a resurgence as the most exciting class in the American LeMans Series. |

This was good news, Johnny O was originally tapped for only the endurance events, but now we can wtahc him in all of the ALMS races. Also good to see Pruett take Johnny O's role as the third driver for the endurance races, it's the best Scott could have hoped for since I think he is contractually barred form a full season ride.
WHile the Saleen/Vette battle should be great, I think the Porsche vs Factory bmw vs Privateer bmw will still edge it out |
