Just hold it earlier in the day.
And besides, they were actually lucky with the weather. 15 minutes south of the track, hail the size of tennis balls fell. The place looks like a war zone today! When I drive through there 2 hours after the race, there was still hail on the highway. http://www.gcbulletin.com.au/news/news.htm#4188 Last edited by Gaz170; 27 Oct 2003 at 10:48. |

Practice and qualifying was hot with track temp up to 48c
as the track dried after the storm, parts of the circuit were dry..and very quickly heated up again while other parts were extremely wet..and it was a rare type of storm because it came off the land to the n/w....every other year the storms have come from the s/e..off the ocean, thats why this one was short but intense and had hail to boot. The drivers were also soaked through like they'd been sitting in a bath and the cars were saturated from the rollover hoop to the bottom of the footwell, after the storm it was hot and very humid. It was an extreme test for the teams, the cars and the Drivers and a spectacular event all round. |
